The purpose of this paper is to convey the effectiveness of the varicella vaccine among the pediatric population and how over time the availability of the vaccine has led to more people being able to receive it. This research has led us to learn that the more available the vaccine has come and the more people who have been receiving it has had an impact on the decline in contracting the herpes zoster virus which has led to lower hospitalization rates among the pediatric population. This paper is important because the data helps support the reasoning behind vaccines and their effectiveness in helping prevent the contraction of illnesses. The paper can also bring awareness to vaccination and help promote education on primary prevention measures of preventing illness in the pediatric population. The paper also compares having one dose of the vaccine to having two doses of the vaccine which can help aid in the promotion of receiving the two doses rather than just one.
