NL Modules 3&4 Reflections

The content in modules 3 and 4 was about clinical judgement and how to set priorities in a clinical setting.  I learned to compare acute versus chronic to determine which is a priority to help make clinical decisions about patients.  Also urgent versus nonurgent to help determine which patient to see first or which illness is more of a priority to assess and treat first.  The module also discussed stable versus unstable and how to determine the difference in patients who are stable and unstable which is helpful because that can help guide your decision on which patient to see first.  Understanding the frameworks and the seven priority setting frameworks will help me integrate them into my career as a nurse and help guide my decisions when determining which patient status holds priority.  This semester I’m learning about many different conditions and how to assess patients due to those conditions however these modules taught me how to prioritize these patients based on my assessment.  The module also discusses critical thinking which is a major part of nursing and helps guide most of our decisions and planning.  The modules also explain the topic of clinical decision-making process which provides steps to help you identify the problem and how to go about solving the problem.  This was important to learn because as a nurse I will be identifying problems and figuring out ways to solve them every day and having steps to follow helps in the planning process.
